Dear ECA Members and colleagues

What a year it has been. In the summer of 2008, we said our final goodbyes to our former ECA President and friend, Carrie Ehlers. It could certainly be argued that Carrie had an influence on ECA that was more profound and long-lasting than any other leader in its history. And Carrie’s life touched so many within the larger transportation community, not to mention what she meant to her family and friends. We miss her, and hope that her lasting memory will be a comfort to us all.

But the ECA Board has a commitment to keep and important business to attend to. It is in this knowledge that we prepare for the next annual ECA Marketplace in Chicago, IL. WE will convene once again as an industry and as a community for three days, and this time the backdrop will be one of the most historic hotels in downtown Chicago, the Drake Hotel. The Drake has hosted the Royal Family, heads of state, many dignitaries, and of course is ready to host the ECA Marketplace in 2009. Please plan to join us from April 14-16, 2009, share in the opportunities that 2009 holds for all of us, and help us to celebrate Carrie’s memory. There will be several special events honoring Carrie and her ECA legacy.
